Crazy Heart
Director: Scott Coopers
Lead: Jeff Bridges

Note: I split my ratings three ways, Storyline, Acting, and Cinematography. There is a ton that goes into a movie, and I feel each of the categories deserves equal attention. You can have a great storyline, but lack in acting. You can have great acting, but bad directing and producing, or a similar combination. You can't solely judge on one or the other, but rather you need to rate each individually. I also provide a fourth rating for my overall opinion on the film.

Storyline/Plot: 8/10
Acting: 9/10
Cinematography: 5.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10

I am personally a fan of Jeff Bridges, I think he is a genuinely good actor, and I loved him in The Big Lebowski, easily one of my favorite comedies. In crazy heart, Bridges plays the part of Bad Blake, a washed up, alcoholic Country music star. I would say the overall plot was a good one, but it wasn't carried out with as much passion as I think it could have been. I would probably rate this movie at 6, however, Bridge's performance was simply outstanding, so I'll give it a 7.5. You really forgot about Jeff Bridges, and all you see is Bad Blake. I can definitely see why he won 2010 Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, however I can also see how the movie didn't win Best Picture. I felt that there were several holes in the plot that could have been filled better. There were also parts I felt were too slow, and others that were a bit too fast. You can definitely tell this was Scott Coopers first directed movie. With that being said, I don't want you to steer away from the movie, I feel it definitely deserves a watch, even though it showed to be rusty in spots, it's still a quality film and deserve at least a try.

For those of you who have seen it, shared opinions?
